Terms of Service
The agreement between you and PickOk when you use the app or this website. Written to be read, not to be survived.
PickOk Terms of Service
Version 1.0 — effective 12 August 2026. This is the first version of these Terms; there is no previous one to compare it with.
These Terms are a contract between you and the operator of PickOk. They cover what PickOk does, what you agree to when you use it, and what happens when something goes wrong. Please read section 7 — Meeting people in person — even if you read nothing else.
By creating a PickOk account you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not create an account.
1. Who you are contracting with
PickOk is operated by Bar Carmi, an Israeli sole proprietor (עוסק פטור). In these Terms that operator is called "PickOk", "we" or "us", and you are "you".
Contact email: [email protected]
How we handle your personal data is set out in the PickOk Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. If the two documents ever conflict about data, the Privacy Policy wins.
2. You must be 18 or over
PickOk is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account. There is no younger tier.
You confirm, every time you use PickOk, that you are 18 or over and legally able to enter this contract. The age floor is enforced by the app and independently by our database, which refuses to store a profile whose date of birth makes the holder under 18.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18 we will delete it without notice. If you believe a minor is using PickOk, report the profile with the underage reason, or write to [email protected].
You also confirm that you have never been convicted of a felony, a sex offence, or a violent crime, and that you are not required to register as a sex offender with any authority. We do not verify this and cannot — see section 7.
3. What PickOk is, and what it is not
PickOk tells you when another single person who matches your stated preferences is physically near you, so that you can look up and walk over.
What PickOk deliberately does not have:
- No chat and no inbox. There is no way to send another user a message of any kind. This is a design decision, not a missing feature, and it is not coming.
- No swiping and no feed of strangers. You only ever see somebody who was actually near you.
- No pins on people. The map shows a count at a place. It never shows a person, a face or a location.
- No name. PickOk never asks you for one and has none to show anyone.
What PickOk does not promise. We do not promise that anyone will be nearby, that anyone will approach you, that anyone shown to you is single, honest, safe, or interested, or that the app will detect every person it theoretically could. Detection depends on GPS, Bluetooth, battery optimisation, your operating system's permission decisions and other people's phones, and any of those can fail without us knowing.
4. Your account
You sign in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping access to the provider account you sign in with. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe someone else has got into your account.
One account per person. Do not create an account for anyone else, do not impersonate anyone, and do not create a new account to get around a suspension or a block.
You may delete your account at any time, from the You tab, then Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no deactivated state and nothing is recoverable. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is destroyed. Note in particular that deleting your account also destroys safety reports that other users have filed about you.
5. Your photo, and the content rules
PickOk asks for one photograph of your face. It is the only thing you upload and the main thing a stranger will recognise you by.
Your photo must:
- be a photograph of you, recognisably showing your face;
- be one you have the right to use;
- be suitable for a stranger to see without warning.
Your photo must not contain nudity or sexual content; another identifiable person who has not agreed to it; a child; violence, weapons, hate symbols or illegal content; a phone number, a social media handle, a web address or any other contact detail; a picture of someone who is not you; or advertising of any kind.
The licence you give us. You keep ownership of your photo. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, and to display it to other PickOk users only in the circumstances described in the Privacy Policy — which is to say, only to someone the server has matched you with, only while all four of the conditions in section 9 of that policy hold, and never for advertising, marketing or promotion of any kind. The licence ends when you remove the photo or delete your account, except for the copy of the file path retained in a safety report that someone else has already filed.
We do not pre-screen photos. No automated moderation, no human review queue before publication. The photo you upload goes live. Enforcement is reactive: users report, and we act.
6. How you must behave
You agree not to use PickOk to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, follow or frighten anyone, in the app or in person;
- solicit money, gifts, cryptocurrency or financial information from another user, or run any scam, romance fraud or phishing scheme;
- advertise, recruit, promote a business, or use PickOk for any commercial purpose;
- solicit or provide commercial sexual services;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, gender or identity;
- discriminate against, abuse, or spread hatred about anyone on any protected ground;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, spoof, or automate any part of PickOk, including forging location or Bluetooth signals, running the app in an emulator to fake a position, or attempting to resolve another user's Bluetooth token outside the app;
- probe, attack or interfere with our servers, or attempt to reach data that is not yours;
- use PickOk where it is unlawful to do so.
Using PickOk to find, follow or approach someone who has blocked you, or who has made clear they do not want contact, is a breach of these Terms and may be a criminal offence.
7. Meeting people in person — read this
PickOk exists to put you within walking distance of a stranger. That is the product, and it carries real risk.
We do not run background checks, criminal record checks, sex offender register checks or identity verification on anyone. We do not confirm that a photo is of the person using the account, that anyone is who they say they are, that anyone is single, or that anyone is safe. The age we show is a number the user typed in. The only thing our database guarantees is that they typed one that made them 18 or over.
You are meeting strangers, and your safety is your own responsibility. Please:
- meet in a public place, and stay in one;
- tell a friend where you are going;
- trust your instincts and leave when something feels wrong;
- never send money to anyone, however convincing the reason;
- report and block anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or in person. To the fullest extent the law allows, you use PickOk and meet people through it at your own risk.
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then report the account to us.
8. Reporting and blocking
Blocking severs a pair completely and in both directions: no card, no notification, no photo, no profile fields, no Bluetooth resolution, and the pair's existing detection records are deleted on the spot. You can block from the three-dot menu on a person's photo, or from the Blocking and reporting row on the You tab — which works even when nobody is nearby. Blocks can be lifted later from your Blocked list.
Reporting tells us something is wrong. You choose from a fixed set of reasons: the photo is not them, sexual content, threatening behaviour, underage, or other. A report records who reported whom, the reason, the time, and the reported person's photo as it was at that moment — so changing the picture afterwards does not erase the evidence.
What happens next. Reports are read by a person, not a system. We review them as quickly as we can, and we act on the serious ones first. We are deliberately not promising a number of hours here: PickOk is run by one person, and a deadline we could miss would be worth less to you than this sentence. If a report needs a faster answer than we are giving it, write to [email protected] and say so.
We may remove a photo, suspend an account, or delete an account permanently, with or without notice, where we judge these Terms or the law to have been broken. We may act on a single serious report and we may act without one.
Deliberately false reports are themselves a breach of these Terms.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, and remove any content, if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your account presents a risk to other users. Where we can do so safely and lawfully we will tell you why.
You may terminate at any time by deleting your account.
Termination does not undo anything already done. Sections 5 (the licence, as limited there), 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 survive it.
10. Price, and changes to the service
PickOk is free. We take no payment today, hold no payment details, and there is no subscription. The app describes a Premium tier; the button says "Currently free of charge", because it is.
If we ever introduce a paid tier we will tell you before it starts, we will never charge for something you already have without your agreement, and we will publish the terms of it. Nothing in these Terms lets us bill you.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of PickOk, including the map, background detection, or Bluetooth confirmation, at any time. The app receives over-the-air updates from Expo, so a change can reach your phone without you visiting an app store.
We do not promise the service will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we may take it down for maintenance without notice.
11. Our intellectual property
PickOk — the app, the website, the name, the logo, the design and the code — belongs to us or to our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on a device you control, for your own non-commercial use, and nothing more.
Do not copy, modify, distribute, sell, licence, or create derivative works from any part of it, and do not remove any notice of ownership.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PickOk is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We specifically do not warrant that: anyone will be near you; a detection will happen when two people are in fact in the same room; a detection will not happen when they are not; a distance estimate, a venue name, a count on the map or an age is correct; a notification will arrive, or arrive on time; or that any user is who they claim to be.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any right you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your own country.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to the last paragraph of section 12:
- we are not liable for the acts or omissions of any user, whether in the app or in person;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of reputation or opportunity;
- our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or connected with PickOk is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, while PickOk is free, is nil — except where the law does not allow that limit, in which case our liability is limited to the least the law allows.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover our reasonable losses, costs and legal fees arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of PickOk, your content, or your conduct towards another user — including in person.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of PickOk, are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the competent courts of Haifa have exclusive jurisdiction over them.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in the country where you live, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
Before starting anything formal, please write to [email protected]. Most things are quicker to fix than to argue about.
16. The rest
- Changes to these Terms. We may update them. We will change the version and date at the top, and tell you in the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use PickOk after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, delete your account.
- If a clause fails, the rest stays in force.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if PickOk is sold, and we will tell you if that happens.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about PickOk.
- App store terms also apply. Your use of the app is additionally subject to Apple's or Google's own terms. Apple and Google are not parties to this contract, have no obligation to support PickOk, and — where Apple's rules require it to be said — Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
