Proximity products are usually the worst offenders for location data. PickOk is built the other way round: the less it stores, the better it works.
What we hold
The email address from your Apple or Google account — so you can get back in.
Your age, your gender and who you want to meet — the filters that decide who gets nudged. None of them is ever displayed.
One photo — the only thing a nearby stranger ever sees. Literally the only thing.
A short-lived code from your phone — so two phones can tell they are close without either one learning who the other is.
Where you are, including in the background — used only to add you to a venue's count on the map. It is never shown to another person — the map publishes numbers, nothing else.
What we never do
Show your location, or anyone else's, on a map.
Keep a history of the places you have been.
Build a record of who you were near.
Sell or share personal data for advertising. Ever.
Let anyone message you, because messaging does not exist.
Ask for your contacts or your photo library.
How the singles map stays anonymous
- Every nearby venue is on the map; the number is how many singles are there.
- Counts are aggregated and refreshed on a delay, never live-tracked.
- Names, faces and pins on people do not exist on the map.
- The block containing your home address is excluded.
- Venue data comes from Google Places — only public businesses.
Safety by design
She approves the nudge before his photo is shown.
Report once and that pairing is excluded permanently, both ways.
Detection off means nothing about you is broadcast.
Safety reports are answered within a day, always first.
