Child Safety Standards

PickOk is an 18+ service. During sign-up every person is asked for their date of birth, and anyone whose date of birth puts them under 18 cannot finish sign-up and cannot create a profile. There is no path into the app for a person who tells us they are under 18.

The following are banned outright, and an account found doing any of them is removed permanently:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, in a photo or in a message.
• Sexualising a minor in any way, including in text.
• Any attempt by an adult to make contact with a minor for a sexual purpose, including grooming.
• Using PickOk while under 18, or helping someone under 18 use it.

This is not a scale of severity. Each of these ends the account.

In the app. Open the person's card, choose Report, and pick “They look under 18.” That reason exists for exactly this purpose. Sending the report also blocks the person immediately, so you do not have to see them again while we act.

By email. Write to [email protected] with the word CSAE in the subject. Use this if you cannot reach the person's card, or if you would rather not use the app.

You do not need to be certain. A report that turns out to be mistaken costs nothing; a concern you keep to yourself may cost a great deal.

Every child safety report is reviewed by a person, not only by software, and it is treated ahead of every other kind of report.

Where a report is substantiated, we remove the account and its content, and we preserve what the law requires us to preserve.

PickOk complies with the child safety laws of the countries it operates in, and reports apparent child sexual abuse material to the relevant regional and national authorities. In Israel this is the Israel Police; where a report concerns the United States it is made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
